Department of Art, Art History & Technocultural Studies
University of California at Davis

The Visual Resources Facility (VRF) is a multi-use facility consisting of an image collection and computer lab providing image resources for teaching and research for the Department of Art, Art History and Technocultural Studies at the University of California at Davis. Its purpose is to facilitate instruction and learning through access to a comprehensive collection of visual materials from Prehistoric to Contemporary periods. The VRF maintains a policy of open access to the collection by any current member of the faculty, staff and student body with priority given to Department patrons.

The collection consists of approximately 230,000 35mm slides, a growing number of digital images, videos, DVDs, periodicals and art and art history reference materials. Developed and administered by the Art and Art History programs, the VRF staff manage image production and preservation, provide collection orientation and circulation, and offer reference and research support and training. VRF staff strive to facilitate access to the collection, as well as supplement the collection with new materials when possible.
